This month started with the Town Council Dragon Boat Day, which was on the same day that we would have had our usual Coffee morning. Consequently, we sadly had to postpone our event to be part of the Town Council’s day. It must have been one of the hottest days of the year, as everyone just wanted drinks and ice cream.

We organised a Dog Show for the Inland Waterways Water Festival, which, sadly, on the Sunday, was a total washout. From registration time onwards, the heavens opened. All the paperwork (and TimeBankers!) were soaked. We had three judges from the Dogs Trust Dog School who braved the elements and helped to bring some joy to the day. There were 24 owners that likewise soldiered on to show their four-legged friends. The highlights of the day were the Tibetan Terrier sporting a pink and white checked raincoat, who was our Judges’ choice for Best In Show, and a mention must go to the winner of the Best Trick – with a wave of his master’s hand, he was off in and out of the posts and flying over the ropes, completing a great routine, cheered on by all.

We are continuing with our plans for Time4Health – helping those going to, in or coming out of Hospital.
Our Donation service continues to help other members and we now have a number of mobility items for short term loan. This service has already been welcomed by loaning out a wheelchair – for a day or a few weeks (full details of what is on offer in the newsletter).
